I said i wouldn't come back, but when a woman says she loves u and changes her mind, she's not lying,she changed her mind. You want child advocates verses dog advocates, be one yourself, I try to. If someone's going to preach to me it isn't going to be a sex offender. But, the preaching by one continues in this paper unchallenged. It is exceeding inappropriate to let that continue, for the kid's sake. view post
Dead horses on Whiteman Hill!

Has anyone noticed a woman who was banned (in Ohio) from having anymore animals and she moves to West Virginia only to acquire more horses and now, after getting these animals, they(at least 4-5 that I was made aware of) are found dead, starved and kept in a barn where there is no mucking done for almost a year and she has these poor creatures in there?! Is there anyone out on Whiteman Hill that has noticed this? The sheriff and police have been asked to help but are not completely doing everything they need to to get this woman fined, prosecuted, etc. and there are even rescues that will help, but b/c the law apparently are not completing their part in getting a warrant and seizure, these animals suffer and die! WHY???????!!!!!!!!!!!!!! view post

My office has recently received complaints that someone is contacting social security recipients by phone posing as the Social Security Administration and requesting personal information in an apparent effort to steal identities. My son loves Pizza Hut, so we decided to go there for lunch today. After waiting 45 minutes for our pizza all we heard from the waitress and the manager is how busy they were. Oh did I forget to mention that when we walked in there was only two other customers in the entire resturaunt. yeah 2. This place *****. If you are looking for good pizza in a timely manner good luck finding it in this town. view post

There must be something done to clean up the Brooklyn section of town. The town or the county must step in. Apparently the people are unable or unwilling to keep up the neighborhood. There is no shame in being on the lower end of the socio-economic spectrum. The shame is "your place looks like a dump". It wasn't always in the poor state of repair that it's in now. How would we like "that area" as a postcard for for town? It has to stop. Is there anything that can be done? view post
Town and Country Fireworks display

I am writing about last night's fireworks at Town and Country Days. Most people don't think about anything beyond how loud and colorful they are. This was the first time they shot them off. Now, did anyone think about where they were shot off and how close this was to our animal shelter? Of course not...A few of us went out to help try to calm the dogs and cats down from the booming explosions going off right over their heads that was so loud there was nothing except howling and panting and saliva and screaming from these poor creatures! Do you think THEY enjoyed the fireworks? I think not! This should have NEVER been put up there behind the shelter!! How thoughtless and ignorant people are..all for the wow factor. Maybe you could think of others before yourselves next time? I say get rid of this or, at least move it to another location. I think they need to re-think their fireworks for next year! I believe the spending of this money to build the road could've been used elsewhere. view post

Why people don't join civic groups and clubs

People wonder why so many refuse to become involved in civic organizations and maybe they should take a good hard look at who represents these. I have never understood why some of these groups have individuals running them who have multiple restraining orders, dishonest business practices and more but people act like they are pillars of the community. So next time you ask me or my spouse to get involved maybe the reason we don't, is because we don't condone wife beaters, con artists and more passing themselves off as civic leaders. view post

WELL WELL WELL...NEW MARTINSVILLE'S FINEST HAVE STRUCK AGAIN....and what a group of Losers..We have A Stalker,(actually, MORE THAN ONE,-he hasn't gotten caught yet), multiple UNFAITHFULS that can be seen at any given time parked in a driveway on Virginia St., SEVERAL that have placed a GUN to their own heads when caught in "compromising" situations, some that bust kids for drugs..and actually KEEP IT!! WHY HASN'T LUCILLE BLUM GOTTEN RID OF JUST ABOUT ALL OF THEM AND STARTED OVER???? a swat team?? a special response team?? GIVE ME A BREAK. During any given shift...YOU WILL FIND MOST PULLED OVER TALKING ON THEIR CELL PHONES, OR MEETING ANOTHER WOMAN...Oh yea....I feel safe...With tese ******** ABOVE THE LAW, why wouldn't you????? view post

Every Witchey I ever knew was a friendly, decent person, always accountable to the customer, as was Mr. Simon. Today, the store in Pine Grove closely hides the identify of the owners. Dotty and Vanessa are two of the most decent people I ever knew, it's not their fault that one is exclusive limited to buying in that 1 percent milk that is 12 day older and bread that is a week older than what you get in NM. The problem resides with the upper management and the hidden ownership. I complained and was told basically that I could go to another store. view post

I cannot afford to buy anything and because I have animals, I am seen as someone who no one wants to rent to(I have been trying for months to locate anything, with no luck)...HOWEVER, if the people would come to where I am right now, they would see a clean home that is free of mess, destruction and it shows just how well I DO care for my pets. So, with that, I am forced to seek refuge in either a RV that I hope to find/afford or in my vehicle! Why is this happening???? NOT ALL PET OWNERS ARE IRRESPONSIBLE! view post
Wetzel County Youths

Following OT lead, lets use this topic to find POSITIVE solutions to provide entertainment to the youth of Wetzel County. The parks are nice but under appreciated due to a changing society. I have 3 intitial ideas: 1) Development of a skateboard/ rollerblade park. 2) Develpoment of a remote controlled(RC) race track. 3) Work to attract a Sonic drive in to the area. I have seen all three of these provide a great amount of entertainment for youth in other towns. view post

I have to publicly congratulate everyone who had a part in bringing this year's festival of memories to the public here in New Martinsville. This is a great example of citizens in action! It wasn't planned and carried out by the county commission, the city council, the cvb, the chamber of commerce...none of those bodies. It was done by concerned citizens who were willing to roll up their sleeves, pitch in and say, "Let's fix this!" The state's largest festival by far, the forest festival, started exactly like this and now draws over 100 thousand people each and every year. This kind of civic action makes me proud of the city and its residents. Good job guys! Dennis view post
