New Martinsville Rotary Club Honors Students Of The Month At June Meeting

The New Martinsville Rotary Club held it's June meeting at Quinets restaurant on Wednesday June 3, 2020, with all social distancing requirements taking place. Honored at the meeting were the Magnolia High School Students of the month for April and May 2020.

April Students of the month are Trey Blain and Abigail Baker Trey is a New Martinsville resident and lives with his parents Barb and Jeremy. Trey carries a GPA of 4.03 and is a member of the National honor society, Science national honor society, Mu Alpha Theta, and the Principals list. He is also an alter server at St. Vincent DePaul Parish.

Trey is the captain of Magnolia's golf team, he was named All-State in 2017 and 2018. He was WV Class A runner up medalist in 2018, OVAC 3A Champion in 2016, All-OVAC 2016, 2017, 2018, AND 2019. OVAC Runner-up medalist 2017, 2018, and 2019. Member of the Ohio Valley Golf League Championship team 2016 and OVGL Champion 2018.

Abigail Baker

He is a volunteer at St. Vicent DePaul Parish and his hobbies include hunting, fishing and golfing. Trey plans to attend West Virginia University and major in Civil Engineering. He has received the Moose Lodge 931 scholarship and the Wetzel County Schools Act Prep.

Abigail live in New Martinsville with her parents Christopher and Diana Baker. She has a GPA of 4.03 and is a National Honor Society member and is recording secretary. She is Mu Alpha Theta - Historian, she belongs to the FFA and is Student Council - Vice President. She also is a member of sources of strength.

Abigail is a member of the First Baptist Church of Paden City, Riverside Young Life, a nursery helper at her church, worker for Willie's Food Pantry at her church and is church pianist. Her hobbies include playing the piano, babysitting, baking and horseback riding.

She plans to attend West Virginia University or University of South Carolina, and major in Biology/Pre-Med. She has received the WVU Scholarship of Distinction Level 1, and is eligible for the promise scholarship, and Wetzel County SAT - Act Scholarship.

May Students of the month are Jacob Gamble and Sierra Walker. Jake lives in New Martinsville with his mother Jane Ann Gamble. He is a National Honor Society member, Science National honor society, Mu Alpha Theta and FFA member. He carries a 4.03 GPA.

Jake was an honorable mention All-State baseball player for the Blue Eagles and special honorable mention All-State player. He was first team OVAC basketball and honorable mention All-State. He attends the Lighthouse Community Church and enjoys spending time with family, friends and hunting. He plans to attend West Virginia University and major in Civil Engineering.

Jake has received the Promise Scholarship and SAT/ACT Prep, Heart of Community scholarship.

Sierra lives in New Martinsville with her parents Steve and Teresa Walker. She carries a 4.02 GPA and is Class Secretary. She belongs to the Travel Club and is it's president, she is a member of the National Honor Society, the Science National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Homeroom Representative, and Relay for Life social media officer. She also belongs to sources of strength.

Sierra is an OVAC All-Academic team member, and a member of the 2017 OVAC Girls track champions, and a member of the girls basketball team who made state appearances the past two years.
