From My View For April 15

April 14, 2020
Bruce Crawford - Staff Writer , Wetzel Chronicle

You know we have had a lot to think about over the last month or so, especially with the virus stuff and most of us in a deep freeze, and staying isolated at home. We didn't get to go out and do the things we felll is important this Easter Sunday, and that is go to church, or did we?

Lynne and I did like many others by having church services at home while listening and watching on the internet from our computers. Church is the people, not a building where we sit and listen to our ministers. We as Christians had our communion at home on the first day of the week, just like we are told in the New Testament. Lynne prepared the bread and grape juice as we honored the Lord, while following in the Bible what our minister was saying, and for a moment I was sad. When I think what our Christ went through on the cross, and his death, burial, and ressurection from the dead to give us the promise of Eternal life, I rejoice in what Jesus did for us sinners.

This Easter, although we were'nt together in our regular Church setting we were still together as one body of Christ. While watching all the news of so many people sick and dying, I hope they all are Christians. I'm sure they're not, but still hope and pray they are. You just don't know when its going to be your time to meet Jesus.

But I better get on to sports. With our schools not in session there isn't much sports going on anywhere. As a weekly newspaper, I will try to re-live the Magnolia Class- IA Championship season in our next weeks paper. I hope I can do it justice as the Big Blue 2015 football team had a perfect 15-0 season with a lot of close games and a few nail-biters, including some miracle play from a lot of very good football players.

I wasn't at each game, but I lived it by reading all the stories from a few different sports writers, and probably missed some outstanding plays, both offensively, defensively and special team play.

This isn't the column I was wanting to do, but it just hit me watching a sports story, so I just got up from my comfy chair from Kings Corner and jotted down what I was thinking the best I could. I hope all is well with everyone, and we can get back to business and keep this country GREAT! Let's trust our leaders into bringing back our jobs that we left when the virus hit. More importantly stay a safe distance from people and wash our hands and pray we don't have a relapse and more people die. Remember we don't know when it's our time to leave this place.

One final thing, please there is to be (No ONE) in our parks. There our signs up, we don't want anybody sick. Rules and regulations are to be followed.bcrawford@wetzelchronicle.com
