Wetzel Sheriff Announces Promotions

On October 1, 2019 the Wetzel County Sheriff Mike Koontz promoted 3 Deputies. Promotions were given as a result of multiple factors, including competitive examinations, officer evaluations, and seniority.

Corporal Roger Spragg has been promoted to the rank of Sergeant, Sgt. Spragg has 18 years of service to the department and has been in law enforcement for 20 years.

Deputy Randy Adams was promoted to the rank of Corporal. Cpl. Adams has 13 years of service to the department. Cpl. Adams is also the Prevention Resource Officer at Hundred High School and Long Drain School.

Deputy Mary Bordenkircher has been promoted to the rank of Corporal also. Cpl. Bordenkircher has been promoted to the rank of Corporal also. Cpl. Bordenkircher has 8 years of service to the department and is the Prevention Resource Officer at Paden City High School and Paden City Elementary.

Also pictured is Chief Deputy Rob Hayes who assisted in the promotion process.

These promotions include additional responsibilities for the individual deputies.

Sheriff Koontz stated " I am glad to offer these promotions and extremely proud of the Deputies who were promoted. These are the first promotions to be offered at Wetzel County Sheriff's Office since 2006. They were long overdue."
