Hundred Town Council Meeting

July 24, 2019
Wetzel Chronicle

The regular meeting of Hundred Town Council was called to order on June 15, at 7:06pm and began with guest, Peggy Adams, addressing council with a complaint. Mrs. Adams stated that the odor from her neighbor's chicken coop is overwhelming and is affecting her quality of life. City ordinance states that animals may be kept within town limits provided that permission has been granted, the animals are kept clean and dry and there is no complaint of nuisance. Therefore, council referred the matter over to HPD for further investigation.

Hundred Fire Chief Keith Williams was next to address Council. He reported that the Wetzel County Commission has unanimously voted for the Hundred Fire Department to have and operate its own ambulance service. This will greatly shorten the response time for ambulance within the town of Hundred and surrounding area. Chief Williams also reported that the new tanker truck for the firehouse is two weeks from being delivered and that the station floor has been repainted and looks great.

He noted that speeding traffic has been reduced since the temporary traffic sign has been placed at the city limits.

Mayor Goff gave an update regarding the placement of permanent speed signs at the three sides of Hundred city limits. These signs were purchased jointly by the Wetzel County Commission and Board of Education. They are ready and expected to be installed within the next few weeks and should help to slow down traffic within city limits.

Police Chief Cecil gave a brief police report stating that the town had been calm and nothing of significance has occurred with the past two weeks.

In closing Mayor Goff announced the Hundred 4th of July fireworks have been rescheduled for Saturday, August 31st with a rain date of Sunday, September 1st, pending approval of permits from the Fire Marshal.

Hundred Town Council meets the first and third Monday's of each month. All Council meetings are open and the public is invited to attend. Persons wishing to speak at a council meeting need to have themselves added to the agenda no later than the Tuesday prior to the meeting they wish to attend.
