Lady Eagles Win Three Matches

The Magnolia Tennis team won a 4-3 match at St. Marys and two home matches - versus Trinity and St. Clairsville - as the Lady Eagles trounced Trinity in straight matches, while only losing one match against the Lady Devils of St. Clairsville on March 27 at Bruce Park Tennis Courts.

In the 4-3 win over St Marys, Reagan Hale and Clara Moore won their #3 and #4 singles matches, 8-4 and 8-1, respectively, as well as their doubles match, 8-0, against Ronda Fluharty and MacKenzie Herin. In the first match of the season, the Blue Eagles lost the tie-breaker in the #3 doubles match when they lost to Oak Glen. Against St, Marys, Audrey Baker and Gloria Hernandez, this time, won 8-4 to give the Eagles the win.

In addition, the Eagles #1 singles and #2 singles Brittany Brown and Whitney Yoho lost, 5-8 and 6-8, against Abbie Powell and Emile Kelly, as well as in the #12 doubles, 6-8.

Magnolia 8, Trinity 0

The Eagles' Bethany Brown started things off in a good way, defeating Alicia Baker, 8-0, in the No. 1 singles match, while Whitney Yoho tripped up Reagan Baker, 8-5, from Trinity. In addition, Raegan Hale and Clara Moore each won their No. 3 and No. 4 matches by the scores of 8-2 and 8-6, respectively.

The winning streak rolled well into the doubles match as Brown and Yoho had an easy time defeating the Trinity's top two players, 8-0, while Hale and Moore continued to keep their doubles season unblemished as they won, 8-5, against their third and fourth top players as well.

It took the Lady Eagles' Gloria Hernandez and Audrey Baker overtime to win their match, 9-7, to make it a clean sweep against Morgantown Trinity.

Magnolia 8, St Clairsville 1

Magnolia would win all, but one singles match against St Clairsville, to make it a clean sweep in girls tennis last week.

Brown and Yoho were in top form as they each won their No.1 and No. 2 singles match, respectively, 8-2 and 9-7, while teaming to win the No. 2 doubles match, 8-1.

Hale lost her No.3 singles match to Bethany James, 4-8, but Moore beat her No. 4 singles match, 8-0. Hale and Moore continued to stay perfect in their No.2 doubles match, winning 8-3. Hernandez and Baker won their No. 3 doubles, 8-4, over Caitlyn Ryby and Whitney Fulton.
