The Promise Of Youth

February 27, 2019
Wetzel Chronicle

We know we've addressed this editorial topic before, but it warrants repeating. If our local communities' youth give any indication of what our future will be like, we are certainly optimistic.

Just check out the pages of this week's paper. We feature Valley High School's aquaculture set-up. This unique endeavor certainly sets the Lumberjacks and 'Jills apart from other schools.

Check out the story on Jocelyn Prado. This Hundred High School student managed to register 100 percent of her class to vote. She recently was named Honorary Secretary of State!

Meanwhile, our young folks' hard work and dedication are also displayed on the basketball court. Magnolia High School's girls basketball team was named sectional champions, while the Paden City boys basketball team had an incredible win over the Blue Eagle boys.

Across the river, the River Pilots' girls basketball team was named OVAC champs.

It would take far more than a short editorial to cover the many, many recent accomplishments of our youth on the high school level, as well as the middle and grade school levels.

Thus, we just want to simply acknowledge the younger members of our community and let them know that we take notice of the great things they are doing. Keep up the amazing work.
