Valley Girls Bounce Hundred from Tourney

The Valley Lumberjills outscored Hundred, 23-5, in the first period of the Region I, Section I sectionals Feb. 16, inside the VHS Gymnasium.

The Lumberjills had nine different players score points, with Caitlyn Underwood leading the way with a game-high 15 points, while Shyanne Moore followed with a bakers dozen. Jenna Dallison also hit in double figures with 11, while Rachel Bates compiled a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

In addition, Jamey West supplied eight points, while Kim Soles tacked on four points, and Kaeleen Utt three points. Also, Americus Ueltschy scored a deuce, along with Reagan Dallison who also grabbed nine rebounds.

With the Lady Hornets' top scorer Katherine Henderson still out with a severe sprained ankle, it was hard for the young Hornets to keep with Valley. Freshman Rachel Snedden scored a team-high 11 points, while Mahalah Britton and Addie Tuttle each scored two baskets.

In addition, Brooke Yoho scored a deuce, while Emily Metz ended the Hundred scoring with a made free throw.

The Hornets will say goodbye to seniors Henderson, Metz, Brittany Mars and Tori Hawkins.

With the win, the Lady 'Jills gets a date with Weirton Madonna Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Brooke High School, with the winner moving on to tonight or Thursday at 7 p.m., still at Brooke High School..

Lumberjills Fall To Lady Dragons, 52-32

The Cameron Dragons broke-up a 12-12 deadlock Feb. 14, outscoring the Valley Lumberjills, 18-4, in the second period. Cameron then went on to defeat Valley, 52-32, in girls high school basketball regular season play.

The 'Jills' Jenna Dallison continued to be a force inside and delivered a game-high 13 points, while Shyanne Moore followed with six markers. Caitlyn Underwood scratched out five points, with one three-point bonus bomb, while Jamey West and Rachel Bates each contributed four points for all the Valley scoring.

Madge Lucey paced the Cameron Dragons with 12 points, while teammate Kori Scott followed with 10 points for all the Cameron double-digit scoring.
