Hundred Boys Falls to Montcalm, 67-64

Montcalm outscored Hundred, 19-12, in the fourth period to beat the Hornets, 67-64, in boys basketball action on Jan. 19 at Montcalm.

The Hornets broke out to a 21-16 lead after one period of play, but Montcalm outscored the Hornets by five points in the second stanza, knotting the game at 36-36 at the break.

Hundred took a 52-48 lead with eight minutes remaining, but Montcalm would prevail, 67-64.

Travis McCoy provided the Hornets with 25 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double to pace the Hundred Hornets, while Cody Soles stuffed the stat sheet with 23 points, six rebounds, five steals, three assists and one blocked shot.

In addition, Logan Norris and Andrew Zedell each tacked on eight points, with Zedell adding 15 rebounds, two steals and dished out two assists.


Hundred Stings West Greene

Three Hundred Hornets outscored West Greene, 68-27, in the first three quarters and went on to a 73-40 victory in boys high school basketball action Jan. 16 inside West Greene Gymnasium.

Travis McCoy scored 15 of his game-high 29 points, including 3-5 free throws, while Cody Soles garnished 7 of his 19 points in the first period - to help the Hornets race out to a 26-12 lead. Hundred continued the onslaught, outscoring their hosts, 18-7, to race out to a 42-19 half-time lead.

The Hornets' Andrew Zedell scored 13 of his career-high 19 points, that included a pair of long-range bonus bombs, while McCoy tossed in nine markers, which helped Hundred build a 30-point lead with eight minutes remaining in the game.

HHS Head Coach Virgil Wilkins called off his big three and emptied the bench in the fourth period, which helped West Greene outscore their guests, 12-4.

McCoy, Zedell and Soles each recorded double-doubles. McCoy posted 29 points and 16 rebounds, while Zedell tacked on 19 points and 10 rebounds. Soles contributed 10 points and just as many rebounds. McCoy added four blocks, while Soles added four steals to lead the way for the Hundred Hornets.

In addition, Aaron Stephens recorded four points, while his twin brother Adam dialed long-distance for three points. Logan Norris, Cole Henderson, Martin Baker and Christian Fluharty each scored two points to end all the Hundred scoring.

Lance Stenenson was the only West Greene player who scored in double figures with 11 points.
