Magnolia Wrestlers Lose First Match

December 18, 2018
Wetzel Chronicle

The expectations of a very good season for the Magnolia Blue Eagle "mat men" got off to a rocky start as the Blue Eagles lost three of the first four matches - one coming from a double-forfeit and another from a forfeit. The Blue Eagles went on to lose to Brooke, 39-36, in a dual match Dec. 12 at Brooke High School.

The Eagles' Jason Beisel (132 lbs) got things going for the Blue and Gold with a quick fall at 1:14. It took his teammate Gage Adams (138 lbs) a little longer with his pin at 3:00 over Jesse Law.

Jacob Phillips (145 lbs) won his match with a forfeit, but the Eagles would lose three straight matches, all by pins, before Brody Rush (182 lbs) won his match by forfeit.

James Stillwagoner (195 lbs) kept the Eagles on track with a pinfall over Austin Williams at 1:45.

Cameron Stillwagoner (220 lbs) lost his very first match by a 10-8 decision, but teammate Mike Hamrick finished his match in record time at 45 seconds over Daniel Rawson.

In other wrestling news, Paden City lost, 45-18, against Morgantown. River lost to Linsly, 54-24, and Tyler Consolidated, 37-36, by criteria.
