The River Pilots won every quarter in a Dec. 14 contest against Paden City. The boys basketball action occurred on the Pilots' home court, in Hannibal, with a final score of 65-33 in favor of the Pilots.

Fresh off a high scoring game at Beallsville, the Wildcats had a hard time finding the basket. The 'Cats put up only 23 points in the first three periods. Matt Saxon led Paden City in the game with 16 points and was the only player able to reach double figures for the Wildcats. Ty Cain hit three buckets for six points to back up Saxon. Jason Anderson got four points, and Trey Slider added a 3-pointer. Jakob Greene and Nicholas Clarke both scored a basket for the Wildcats.

River scoring included Michael Johnson hitting for 15, Stone Thompson hitting for 13, and Colton Lawrence hitting for 11. Other Pilots scoring included John Murphy, nine; James Hendershot, five; Jonas Schmidt, seven; Jason Deaton, two; and Chase Lawrence, two.

Saxon drilled three 3-pointers for the Wildcats, and River hit a total of nine long balls. Paden City shot a miserable 3-11 at the free throw line; River also had a bad night at the line, going 8-17. The Wildcats could manage only 13 field goals on the night, while River hit 24.
