November 7, 2018
BY BRUCE CRAWFORD - STAFF WRITER (BCRAWFORD@WETZELCHRONICLE.COM) , Wetzel Chronicle

The Hundred Hornets' Andrew Zedell gained 111 yards rushing on 31 carries, and passed for 73 yards and a touchdown, but it wasn't quite enough to get past Montcalm as it scored on all seven possessions in a 56-6 rout Nov. 2. The game was the Hornets' season finale, held on Cosgray Field in Hundred.

Montcalm's Christian Carper put some outstanding numbers in the first half, scoring four times while gaining 221 yards on 20 carries to take a 34-0 halftime lead. He added 102 yards and one more score in the second half before leaving the game with 323 yards and five touchdowns.

Zedell hooked up with Skylar Goff late in the fourth period for the Hornets' only score. Goff caught four passes on the night for 73 yards and a touchdown.

Hundred’s Andrew Zedell eclipsed the 1,000 mark for the season in a loss to Montcalm.

Zedell, in his first season as a running-back/quarterback, hit the century mark with 1,127 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, while completing 452 yards and six touchdowns. Zedell was given the game ball after the game by Athletic Director Jeremy Kelch.

The Hornets will say goodbye to seniors Zedell, Martin Baker, Brendyn Bailey and Brandon Rine to graduation but will return the bulk of their team, including quarterback Logan Norris - who was lost before the season got underway, due to an injury.
