Teams Complete in XC Regional Meet

The 2018 edition of the Region I WVSSAC Class A/AA regional boys and girls country meet ended with Fairmont Senior winning the boys event with 34 points, while Ritchie County and Frankfort High placed second and third place, respectively. The meet was held Oct. 18 at St. Marys High School.

Tavian Richardson of Fairmont Senior had the best boys time with 16:46.41, while Spencer Corley had the best time from our area with 17:23.48 and finished sixth place. The Hundred Hornet boys finished in 12th place, while Paden City finished 15th.

Jacob Kuhn of Hundred led the Hornet pack with a solid time of 20:15.60, while Cole Miller (21:08.04), Joseph White (21:44.59), Christian Fluharty (23:48.40), Brayden Cottrill (24:14.48) and Travis McCoy (28:40.41) rounded out the Hornet boys team.

Nathan Schupbach (21:31.25) and Austin Pyles (23:21.39) were the only two Blue Eagle runners competing for their school, while Kyle Carpenter and Hizer (27:13.19, Tobin McEldowney (28:14.52), Jacob Amos (28:16.71) and Paxton Pierce (28:20.64) each competed for the Paden City Wildcats' boys team.

In the girls race, Berkeley Springs won a close race in the WVSSAC Girls Class A/AA with 69 points, while St Marys with 74 points and East Fairmont with 76 points finished a close second and third, respectively.

Erykah Christopher (19:42.33) of East Fairmont had the best female time, while Aubrey Hall (22:39.74) of Magnolia had the best female local time. Rachel Snedden (22:55.28) and Iris Woodward (25:34.03) of Hundred quickly followed. Paden City's Arissa Kline (33:53.89), Paige Leonard (33:55.35) and Hannah Loy (34:05.50) competed for the
