Magnolia Spikers Wins Paden City Tri-Match

The Magnolia Blue Eagles opened each match, in a tri-match with host Paden City and the St Marys Blue Devils, with a lead, and they never looked back in handling both teams in straight sets on Sept. 20 at Bob Burton Gymnasium.

In the opener against the Lady Wildcats, Kyndra Pilant drilled her first of her 11 kills to get the Eagles a quick lead. However, the Wildcats would hang with Magnolia early and would take its first and only lead at 9-8 with the help of two Hope Weber kills and a Maggi Still service ace.

However, Alyssa Kocher served up three points to take over the lead at 11-9, but after after getting back the serve, the Wildcats gave the Eagles their third of their six service errors and give the service right back to the Blue and Gold.

Mady Winters would then serve up four straight points, including a pair of aces, to extend its lead to 16-10 when Paden City called a timeout. After the break, the Eagles gave the service right back with their third of five service errors.

But a Pilant block landed for a point, and teammate Liza Clegg would serve out to give Magnolia a 25-11 victory

For the second straight set, the Eagles scored first, but this time the Eagles scored the first four points with the help of two Winters service aces, and a Pilant kill. But, the Eagles returned the favor with another service error and a Weber kill to closed the gap at 5-3, and got as close as 11-5 run, before the Eagles went on a five point run - helped by a Pilant ace and a Winters kill.

Paden City took the serve back, but it didn't take long for Magnolia to take it back and score three more points before Paden City took the serve back and returned the serve right back with another Wildcat service error.

The Eagles and the 'Cats traded points until a Zoey Jenkins back row kill gave the Eagles a 20-16 lead. After a kill by Still, the Eagles pushed three more points on the board thanks to a Pilant kill and ace and another Winters blast to push their advantage to 24-20, and would get the set and match winner with a thunderous kill.

Clegg paced the Eagles with 10 points, while Winters and Pilant each tacked on seven markers. Clegg added five digs and one kill, while the Pilant and Winters combined for 19 kills, six digs, five blocks and five service aces. Leneica Grimm compiled 22 assists, four digs, one kill, and one point.

In addition, Kocher added three points and bumped up a dig, while Kayna Anderson scored two points and had six digs. Jaci Rhode had two digs, while Zoey Jenkins blasted her first varsity kill from the back row and finished the Blue Eagle stats with a dig.

Still scored a team-high four points - including an ace, while adding a kill and a dig and assist to lead the way for Paden City. Weber stuffed the stat sheet with two points, three kills, three digs and a block, while Mallory Yeater finished with two points, one kill and dished out six assists.

In addition, Brandis Dalrymple came of the bench to post one kill, two blocks, one dig and one assist. Abbe Stackpole and Cora Anderson each tallied one point and bumped up a pair of digs. Madi Kline scored two points with one ace and belted a kill.

Magnolia Takes Care Of St Marys

Kyndra Pilant and Mady Winters belted 21 kills, blocked seven, and served up 11 points - including three aces, to help Magnolia beat St Marys in straight sets in the Eagles' second match.

Grimm scored seven points - including three aces, while dishing out 25 assists. Clegg tacked on three points with two aces, one kill and two digs. Jenkins served up six points, while Kocher scored two points and bumped up a dig. Anderson came up with seven digs and scored two points. Jaci Rhode ended the night with three kills and two digs.

Wildcats Send Devils Packing

In the Wildcats' second match, they took it out their loss to Magnolia out on the St. Marys Blue Devils in straight sets, 25-11 and 25-4.

Yeater filled the stat sheet, as she tallied 17 service points with six aces, while adding two kills, seven assists on 44 sets, and bumped up three digs to pace the home-standing Wildcats. Weber smacked eight kills, while adding three points and one dig. Still came through with five points - including two aces, one kill and six assists on 19 sets.

In addition, Stackpole scored two points, smacked a kill, and bumped up four digs. Dalrymple knocked down two kills and got a team-high three blocks, while Anderson added a point and four digs. Kelsey Michael ended the match with a point and a dig, while Hallie McDonald served up four points, while adding a kill and recording a block.

Lady Eagles Beat Wheeling and Monroe Central

Kennedy Parsons secured 30 digs and scored four points to lead Magnolia to a 25-18 and 25-21 victory over Monroe Central on Sept. 18 inside Wheeling Central Gymnasium.

Kyndra Pilant tallied nine service points, drilled 15 kills, compiled 18 digs and blocked three shots. Mady Winters posted six points with four aces. She followed with five kills, 12 digs and blocked three shots.

In addition, Leneica Grimm dished out 20 assists, made six digs and scored three points. Liza Clegg had four points, with one ace, one kill and seven digs. Zoey Jenkins also had seven digs for all the Blue Eagle stats.

The Blue Eagles made a quick exit and headed home after beating Wheeling Central in straight sets, 25-18 and 25-17, in the nite-cap.

Grimm scored a team-high eight points with one ace, three digs, and dished out 18 assists. Winters and Clegg each tallied five points, with Winters chipping in with five aces, five kills and seven digs, and Clegg with six digs and three kills to lead the way for Magnolia.

In addition, Anderson tallied a point and bumped up 14 digs, while Pilant added a double-double with 10 kills and 14 digs. Jenkins and Alyssa Kocher each compiled a pair of digs.
