According to New Martinsville Police Chief Tim Cecil, his department is still fervently searching for the unidentified suspect involved in a July 2 stabbing that occurred near McEldowney Avenue in New Martinsville.

Chief Cecil said a sketch artist from Quantico, Virginia will be arriving in town to create a sketch from the female victim's description. Chief Cecil said the FBI is going to assist NMPD with its investigation.

According to NMPD, the July 2 stabbing occurred when the suspect attempted to rob the victim of her money and cellphone. The victim was able to fight off the suspect and get to safety, while the suspect fled the scene on foot.

The male suspect is approximately 5 feet and 10 inches tall with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a t-shirt with black vertical stripes, blue and tan plaid shorts, and low cut tan work boots. The male suspect is described as having dark hair with some gray mixed in. His hair was described as being messy and "between short and medium length."

The description states the suspect had a "thin chinstrap-style beard along the jawline with a full goatee," measuring approximately one to two inches from the chin. The color of the facial hair is described as being lighter than hair on the suspect's head. He also could be sporting an eyebrow ring on his left eyebrow.

The public is asked not to approach anyone matching the suspect's description and to, instead, call the NMPD at 304-455-9100 if they spot the suspect or with any information pertaining to the suspect.
