Palmer, Melott Lead VHS Class

Sophie Palmer served as Valley High School's Class of 2018 valedictorian, while McKenzie Melott had salutatorian honors.

Palmer's honors are numerous. She has lettered in basketball and cheerleading all four years of high school. She was also captain in both sports her junior and senior years. She was also given the honor of being chosen to play in the OVAC All Star game. Palmer played softball her freshman year and ran track her sophomore, junior and senior years. She qualified for the state track meet all three years in three events.

Her extracurricular activities include county and regional Math Field Day, French National Honor Society and president of the National Honor Society.

Palmer is the daughter of David and Gabrielle Palmer, and she plans on attending WVU and is in the nursing program.

McKenzie Melott has been named salutatorian for VHS. Melott is the daughter of Mike and Tama Melott. McKenzie has been a member of the National Honor Society and the FFA. She has also been captain of the cheerleading squad, as well as being field commander of the band.

McKenzie has been accepted by West Liberty University where she will be attending in the fall. Melott plans on studying to become a physician assistant.
