The Magnolia Lady Eagles' tennis team started its tennis season off on the right track when it took care of Oak Glen, 4-3, on March 26 at John Marshall.

After losing the No. 1 singles match, 5-8 (Logan Riggs), and No. 2 singles, 3-8 (Bethany Brown), the Eagles No. 3 singles Whitney Yoho beat Lexi Rheinhardt, 8-3, as did No. 4 singles Ashley DeMarco, 8-1, to Kara Stanley to tie things up heading into doubles competition.

Brown and Yoho lost 0-8, while Riggs and Raegan Hale won, 8-5, over the Golden Bears' Rheinhardt and Stanley to even things up, setting up a winner-take-all.

The Blue Eagles' DeMarco and Clara Moore were on their game and took care of business, beating the Bears' Courtney Brickner and Sierra Wright, 8-2, to give the match to Magnolia.

"Ashley and Clara didn't play together last year. They are shaping up to be hard to beat third doubles," said MHS Head Coach Jesse Robinson. "They both have consistent serves and are good at playing the net."

The Eagles have two matches next week, including a tri Saturday in Fairmont. The first match is at home at the Bruce Park Tennis Courts on April 5 against St Clairsville at 4 p.m.
