Wells Sentenced To 20-40 Years In Prison

Howard Lee Wells, age 48, of Cameron, West Virginia was recently sentenced by Judge Jeffrey Cramer, in Wetzel County Circuit Court, to an effective sentence of not less than 20 nor more than 40 years in the West Virginia Division of Corrections for two counts of "Sexual Assault by a Custodian." This is the statutory maximum.

Wells was remanded to prison to serve his sentence. If he completes his sentence, he will be required to serve 50 years of supervised release and register as a sex offender for life.

The case was prosecuted by Wetzel County Assistant Prosecutor Carl "Worthy" Paul before his retirement, and sentencing was argued by Wetzel County Assistant Prosecutor Justin Craft.
