January 9, 2018

A fatal accident occurred Jan. 8 around the Jacksonburg Pitstop in Wetzel County. According to Wetzel County Sheriff Mike Koontz, the call was received around noon that a vehicle had gone off the roadway. When deputies arrived, they discovered a water truck, that had been leaving an EQT well pad, had swerved off the road and rolled over an embankment. The driver was killed as a result. The driver's name is not being released at this time as an investigation is still ongoing. The water truck was owned by Fountain Quail Water Management, from Erwin, Texas. Koontz said the main factor of the crash was bad road conditions due to weather.

Emergency services were able to get the area cleaned up by approximately 4:30 p.m. Several ambulances, the Public Service Commission and Folsom Volunteer Fire Department and EMS all responded to the scene.
