From My View For Dec. 6

December 6, 2017
BY BRUCE CRAWFORD - Staff Writer ( , Wetzel Chronicle

I know it's a couple weeks away, but I wanted to share my Christmas list of presents that I want St. Nick to pass out on Christmas morning.

To our editor, Lauren Matthews... I want the bearded wonder to give Lauren some outright Christmas cheer.

She works very hard at being the editor and putting out a great local newspaper she can feel good about.

It would be nice if she could receive some extra help, to free up some time, and make her a lot happier to close out the year.

To Diann Wright... I would like her to have a year's subscription to the Wetzel Chronicle and Tyler Star News.

Now that she has moved on, and is not with the paper anymore, she can relax in her new office and read about what she has missed, since she is not here with us.

To Rosie Miles... I would like her to have some extra help as well. She works super hard to fulfill the duties at the Tyler Star News, as well as the Wetzel Chronicle, since Diann is no longer here.

I'd like Rosie to have a chance to catch her breath and take it easy, and not have any worries.

To Chad Turner... I would like Santa to bring a nice, unmarried girl - in her late 20s to early 30s - to Chad's house to comfort him and take care of him for the rest of his life, as his bride.

To Ed Parsons... I would like him to have a three-ring binder to put all his awesome columns inside.

Plus, while Santa is at it, give his Ed's wife, Donna, a medal, trophy and certificate for putting up with Ed the past 40-plus years.

To our awesome ad representatives, Zach Blair and Vance Ash... I would like them to have plenty of new customers, and a record year of sales... though they always do a fine job.

To Kristen Keller... I would like her to have the opportunity to write a few happy feature stories. She covers a lot of meetings, and our more-serious news.

I would like her to get the chance to write something different.

To Brian Clutter... I would like him to have a month of not having us tell him we need help, so he could go on that once-in-a-lifetime fishing trip in Alaska.

To Bubba Kapral, our Executive Sports Editor for the Wetzel Chronicle and Tyler Star News... I would like Bubba to have the opportunity to watch Ed and myself go to the state's West Virginia Press Award and win the best sports-writing award, outstanding columnist, and best sports photographer.

To all my coaches... I would like them each to have a smartphone, so they can send me the stats after their games, so I can write a story for them.

Also, I would like to see, an All-Wetzel County Boys and Girls Basketball Tournament that changes schools every year until all four schools host it, and then do it again and again.

I would also would like Santa to bring my wife a bass-fishing boat, with all the bell and whistles - including new fishing gear that she can use once she retires. She has earned it, 10-fold.

To our many readers of the sports pages in the Wetzel Chronicle and Tyler Star News... I hope that they are always satisfied with our product, and that they receive their papers in a timely manner.

But, most of all, I want everyone to get along and make this country Great AGAIN! Merry Christmas! Let's keep Christ in Christmas.
