Dave Pethtel Selected As Wetzel’s Democrat Of The Year

Dave Pethtel, Delegate for the Fifth District of West Virginia's House of Delegates, has been selected by the Wetzel County Democratic Executive Committee as Democrat of the Year for 2017. Delegate Pethtel will be recognized at the Democrats' Annual Roosevelt Kennedy Dinner in Charleston on Nov. 3.

Wetzel County Democratic Executive Committee Chairman Denny Longwell said, "No one is more dedicated to the philosophy of the Democratic Party than Delegate Dave Pethtel."

Pethtel lives in Hundred with his wife, Mary Ann. He retired from the Wetzel County Board of Education on June 30, 2013 with 40 years of experience. The Pethtels are the proud parents of two sons - Kevin (wife Stephanie), and Eric. Dave and Mary Ann are the proud grandparents of Kevin and Stephanie's children, Noah and Trey.

Pethtel has been elected 13 times to represent the 5th Delegate District. He recently completed his 25th year in the West Virginia House of Delegates.

Chairman Longwell went on to say that the Democrat of the Year award is given annually to the one person who has done the most for the Democratic Party, in Wetzel County.

Longwell said, "Dave is genuine, visible, accessible, transparent, and is the epitome of what all Democrats should strive to be."
