NMPD Responds To Domestic Incident

Gun Fired During Dispute

New Martinsville Police Department Chief Tim Cecil said his department is investigating a Sunday domestic incident that resulted in gun fire.

The incident occurred on 381 Third Street, New Martinsville, and involved a man and a woman. The incident occurred around 5 p.m., Oct. 1.

NMPD Sergeant Friend Estep, Chief Tim Cecil, Sergeant Don Larsen, and Patrolman Jason Utt all responded to the incident, which caused a nearby road closure.

Chief Cecil said the gun shot was fired into a car. No one was injured, and no arrests have been made. The female suspect accuses the male suspect of shooting the gun, while the male suspect has accused the female suspect of shooting the gun.

Chief Cecil said the car, gun, and bullet have all been secured, and gun residue test kits have been submitted.
