Sports Spotlight: Hunter Partridge

July 26, 2017
Wetzel Chronicle

This week, the Wetzel Chronicle sports department is shining its spotlight on a Magnolia Blue Eagle athlete - Hunter Partridge. This senior has waited his turn to be the main running back since he was a freshman. He's following some great backs like Chase Street and Tyler Anderson.

Now they are gone, and it will be up to Partridge to make his mark as the main back in 2017. While he was waiting for his opportunity, Partridge learned not only how to be a productive running back, but to be a good teammate - like his predecessors did before him.

Partridge will be a four-year letter-winner this season, was a All-State selection last season, mostly on the defensive side of the ball. He had 53 tackles, six of which went for loss of yardage. He forced two fumbles, while recovering one, and blocking a punt in eight games played.

When asked what his best memory was other than winning the state Class-A title his sophomore year, he replied, "Returning the opening kick for a touchdown against River."

He mentioned that his father was a big influence, pushing him to the be the best that he can. He also stated that he had some pre-game traditions, by eating a Subway on game day.

Partridge is involved in the FFA (Future Farmers of America) in school, and when asked about his future plans after graduation, he said he would like to play college football.

Partridge is also a member of the 2017 Class-A 4x200 meter state champions with Street, Brooks Parsons and Riley Nice.
