Sports Spotlight: Tyler Kocher

June 28, 2017
Wetzel Chronicle

This week, the Wetzel Chronicle will shine its Sports Spotlight on Valley Lumberjack senior Tyler Kocher , a standout in football, basketball, and baseball.

During basketball, Kocher has been the first athlete off the bench for the past two seasons, while spot starting on a few. He was the guy that did it all. He was a solid rebounder, while keeping the ball alive on the boards. He was also the guy to come in and shut the other team's best player down on defense.

In baseball, Kocher is the conductor behind the plate, keeping track of what's going on and telling his defense where to go, including keeping base-runners by throwing out 23 players out from moving up a base with his arm strength.

In football, Kocher was the starting quarterback and punter before being injured. However, he passed for 970 yards, with 10 TDs, while churning up 550 yards with five touchdowns in his first three games. With injuries to Kocher, the Lumberjacks had to go another route and Kocher finished the season on the ground, rushing for 300 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, he made 34 tackles with two interceptions.

We asked Tyler nine questions, and here are the questions and answers:
