To The Editor,

For the last two months, five volunteers from Paden City Volunteer Fire Company have been studying and working toward completing their firefighter 1/HazMat Operations course. This course is credited for 122 instructional hours; yet, Donnie Billiter, Justin Billiter, TJ Michael, Troy Morgan and Joe Parrish have put in countless other hours of book work and traded their weekends with theirs families to complete practical skills. These men are the epitome of community volunteering. Furthermore, due to a scheduling issue, the students weren’t going to be able to test on the original date. Thanks to New Martinsville Fire Chief Rick Myers’ exceptional generosity, he administered the tests to these students on the scheduled date. Chief Myers shows that communities stick together and assist each other not just for their benefit but for mutual aid to strengthen communities and provides seamless coverage to our area. Thank you to all volunteers for your time and you’re training.
