A Successful Egg Hunt

April 19, 2017
Wetzel Chronicle

heck out the accompanying photo with the smiling faces. These hard workers - consisting of folks from New Martinsville Parks and Recreation, Bayer Heritage Federal Credit Union, and New Martinsville Church of God - joined forces to provide our community's children with a whopper of an egg hunt. The hunt consisted of an astounding 28,000 eggs, and brought in 3,000 individuals. Additionally, New Martinsville Church of God provided several prizes for those who were lucky enough to come upon a golden egg! Prizes included footballs, basketballs, Frisbees, and bicycles.

And, we would be remiss if we did not report on the Easter Bunny's attendance! The ever-popular rabbit was present to celebrate the happy holiday and capture photos with youngsters.

Upon sharing the accompanying photo on our Facebook page, we received positive comments. Residents said they enjoyed driving by and noticing the happy children and the colorful eggs dotting the park's grass.

Spring is looked at as a happy time of year, a time of renewal and new starts. We are grateful for the local organizations who rejuvenated our community with this event, and gave an enormous amount of children a happy memory they won't soon forget.
