Last Second Shot Leads Eagles To Victory

Magnolia freshman Kendra Pilant knocked in a Eagle miss with 12 seconds remaining, and the Lady Eagles held on for a come-from-behind 46-45 victory over the Cameron Dragons, Feb. 16 inside the MHS Hammer-Dome.

The Lady Dragons held a 10-point advantage midway through the second quarter, but the Eagles flew by the Dragons to tie it up by the break, at 24-24.

Magnolia only scored four baskets in the fourth period, and missed all four free throw attempts, while Cameron was held to only a pair of two-pointers, and 5-6 at the free throw line.

MHS’ Taylor Ludewig is presented the game ball from Tom Tisher and Phil Haulsey, during the game against Cameron, after she broke the school’s all time assist record with 435 assists.

The Eagles saw the return of senior center Autumn Cecil to the starting lineup, from knee surgery earlier in the season. She didn't score but rejected three shots and pulled down four rebounds.

Kelsi Chapman paced the Blue Eagles with 15 points, while Jordan Delaney and Knydra Pilant each contributed eight points. Logan Riggs came off the bench to tally seven markers, while Ludewig tallied seven for all the Blue Eagle points.

Kelsie Meintel led the way offensively for the Lady Dragons with 14 points.

Taylor Ludewig was honored before the game, when she broke the school record with 435 assists in her Blue Eagle career.
