River's Lakyn Ramsay scored 14 points, including three baskets from beyond the arc, but it wasn't enough to get by the Lady Cougars, who won 47-32 Jan.19 at Frontier High School.
It was a low-scoring affair in the first quarter, with Frontier on top, 6-5, before they took a 16-14 lead at intermission. Frontier picked it up in the third period, outscoring the Pilots 23-9 in the third. River outscored their hosts 9-8 in the final period.
Cassidy McCullough added eight points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Pilots, while teammate Haylee Bowers swished four deuces. In addition, Emile Weaver tallied seven points, while Leslie Young and Hannah Jones each added a deuce and Landyn Ramsay swished a free throw.
The Lady Pilots will visit Shenandoah Jan. 26, with the junior varsity game scheduled to tip-off at 6 p.m.
