Hokey News?

As we put the surveillance photo of the robbery at Simon’s Market in Pine Grove on the front of this week’s Wetzel Chronicle, it occurred to us how a metropolitan resident would probably scoff at making such a big deal of the theft of a case of beer.

They’re probably right, but in our area we really don’t believe there is any crime that’s inexcusable, particularly when it is perpetrated against an innocent bystander, including local businesses.

We also believe in the value of getting the photograph out so the West Virginia State Police can possibly get some helpful information from the public.

Hokey? Maybe, but we’ll take small-town crime over the bigger things like drive-by shootings any day.
