LETTERS TO THE EDITOR POLICY:

The Wetzel Chronicle welcomes letters to the editor. However, letters should not exceed 400 words. The Wetzel Chronicle also reserves the right to edit letters for length and clarity. Names of letter writers will not be withheld. Each letter must be signed by the writer and must include address and telephone number for verification.

At the present time, letters to the editor may not be emailed, however, you may fax them to (304) 455-1275.

OBITUARIES POLICY:

The Wetzel Chronicle welcomes obituaries published in other publications. Obituaries are paid in advance of publication in the Wetzel Chronicle. The first 38 words, including the decedent's name, are free of charge. Each word thereafter costs 15-cents. Photographs, sized 1-inch by 3-inches, cost $15.00. Payment must be received in the Wetzel Chronicle office at P.O. Box 289, New Martinsville, West Virginia 26155 or by phone at (304) 455-3300 before 2:00 p.m. the Tuesday preceding publication.

A telephone number for the funeral home in charge of the funeral or memorial arrangements is required for verification purposes.

COMING EVENTS POLICY:

The Wetzel Chronicle welcomes submissions to the "Coming Events" page. Events must be 40 words or fewer and have a local connection. Local events timely in nature will take precedence over those outside of Wetzel County. Events may be e-mailed to , faxed to (304) 455-1274 or mailed to P.O. Box 289, New Martinsville, West Virginia 26155. Events will not be taken over the telephone.

NEWS ITEMS POLICY :

The Wetzel Chronicle will gladly accept news items concerning births, birthdays, engagements, weddings and anniversaries which adhere to the following guidelines.

Submissions accepted for publication include: birth announcements, birthdays for children up to and including 10 years of age, birthdays for adults over the age of 74, engagements and wedding announcements and wedding anniversaries of 25 years or more.

All submissions should be no longer than 500 words in length, typewritten or printed legibly and include the first and last names of all individuals included in the announcement. If the event is from outside the area, please explain the association with our local reading area. A telephone number for verification purposes should also be included.

Photographs should be no smaller than wallet size and clear. Color or black and white photographs are acceptable. Please, no instant camera photos. All photographs may be picked up at the Wetzel Chronicle on the Friday after publication or as soon as possible. Photos will be returned by mail only if accompanied with a self-addressed stamped envelope. The Wetzel Chronicle will hold photos no longer than one year after publication.

Deadline for submitting society items to the Wetzel Chronicle is 4:30 p.m. Friday. All items will be published in the next available publication as space permits. Dated material will be given priority.
